HMD Global confirms to unlock bootloader on Nokia Android smartphones one at a time

Nokia 8 -8

Since HMD Global has mentioned that it will not provide official bootloader unlock for Nokia phones, fans and users have been requesting the company for the same, and it looks like HMD global has finally changed their mind. The company is now willing to unlock the bootloader on all Nokia phones, but it will do it one phone at a time.

The same is being confirmed by Mikko Jaakkola, CTO of HMD when reached out by NokiaPowerUser on Twitter with the query about the Bootloader unlock. As the company is now willing to do it one Nokia phone at a time, it needs to be seen which among the list of four phones that it launched would be the first one.

HMD Global has launched Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and the flagship Nokia 8 so far, while Nokia 6 being the first to one to go official. So, it would make sense if Nokia 6 ends up being the first model to get its bootloader unlocked as it is the only model available globally, including the US and China as of now.

Recently developers at XDA were successful in patching the Online service tool which is officially used by Nokia to flash the firmware, and this is the only development thus far for the Nokia phones.
