Amazon to open 12 pop-up stores in India for its upcoming end of season fashion sale

Amazon will end its three day Smartphone Sale today that had some good offers of various devices. Now, the e-tailer is gearing up for its biggest ‘end of the season’ fashion sale starting from June 23-June 25. In a bid to promote the fashion sale further, Amazon will open 12 temporary physical stores in three popular cities – NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Arun Sirdeshmukh, head of Amazon’s fashion business, told ET,

We have tied up with the biggest tech parks in the country and these will act as activation and promotion for our sale. For our young consumers at these parks, this will be a good opportunity to step out and experience fashion at physical outlets.

Although it is touted as the ‘end of the season’ sale, it is clear that the sale is a medium through which Amazon will try to sell off the existing inventory before the goods and service tax (GST) becomes applicable. Amazon’s weekend fashion sale clashes with similar ‘end of season sales’ from the rival Flipkart’s fashion subsidiaries — Jabong and Myntra.

We have approached Amazon to get details about these offline stores in the aforementioned three cities and will keep you updated with the same.
