Uber improves privacy controls for better data management

Uber is bringing major changes to its privacy controls that will allow users to easily manage their data. With the latest update, the Uber app will get a dedicated “Privacy Setting” menu where users can easily control how the company collects information about them.

This menu will have all your current and future privacy-related controls, including the existing “Remove Stored Contacts” setting. Uber says the idea is to make these controls easy to find in one place. You can now control which push notifications you receive from Uber on your phone including trip status alerts and discount updates. In case of location, a new screen will explain how to disable location tracking and allow users to choose whether or not to let contacts hail a ride in their location.

Moreover, the update brings a new system to delete your account. With a self-service deletion process it is now easy to delete your account without having to contact Uber support. You can even reactivate your account within 30 days.
