Amazon introduces new Fire HD 8 with Alexa support, more storage and improved battery life

Amazon has introduced a new Fire HD 8 tablet in the US. It has the same 8-inch (1280×800 pixels) IPS display, but this has more storage with 16GB and 32GB options, 1.5GB of RAM and also promises up to 12 hours of battery life. It also brings support for Alexa its own cloud-based voice service that lets you play music, launch games, read audiobooks, and more through voice commands.

Alexa support will be available soon for the new Fire HD 8 and other Fire tablets through Fire OS 5.4 update.

  • Accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor
  • Battery life of up to 12 hours mixed use

The new Amazon Fire HD 8 comes in Black, Magenta, Blue and Tangerine colors and is priced at $89.99 (Rs. 6000 approx.) for 16GB and $119.99 (Rs. 7990 approx.) for 32GB versions. It is now available for pre-order from Amazon.com and ships from September 21.
