Samsung likely working on Galaxy J1 Pop

It seems like Samsung is working on a an entry level handset that is targeted at emerging markets. According to SamMobile, the South Korean company is working on a Galaxy J1 Pop.

Samsung Galaxy J1 4G-8

Samsung launched the Galaxy J1 in February in India for Rs 7,190 and hence it is a bit too soon for a new version of the phone. The upcoming phone is said to have the model number SM-J110. The J1 Pop is expected to be announced soon and get a global release as well. Since the phone is targeted at developing markets, it will be available in Brazil, India and Russia.

The specs of the phone are not known yet but they are expected to be a bit higher than the original Galaxy J1. Just a quick recap – the Galaxy J1 sports a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) display and is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. Running Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS, it has a 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 64GB with microSD.  There is a 5MP auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and 2MP front-facing camera. The phone supports Dual SIM and has a 1850mAh battery with ultra power saving mode.

Lets hope that Samsung bumps up the RAM to 1GB on the upcoming Galaxy J1 Pop. Samsung also has two other smartphones – J5 and J7  that fall in the J series and are mid rangers. Last week, both the devices got certified in China.
