Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Asus Zenfone series delayed again

Asus Zenfone 4-1

Last month Asus announced that it will roll out Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for its Zenfone series starting from May, starting from the Zenfone 5 LTE (A500KL) from early May, followed by Zenfone 4 (A400CG/A450CG), Zenfone 5 (A500CG) and the Zenfone 6 (A600CG) in mid-May.  The update was expected to roll out at the end of April, later it was postponed to May, now the company has announced that it has found issues during verification, hence the update is delayed to provide better user experience.

Currently there are no details about the time frame of the roll out. It just says that it is working on the related issues and will release the upgrade as soon as possible. Lollipop update for the New Padfone Infinity (A86) has also be postponed due to limitation of the processor. It will continue to offer software upgrade based on Android 4.4 KitKat till the release of Lollipop.

Android 5.0 Lollipop brings Material Design with bold, colorful, and responsive UI design, better notifications, battery saver feature, New Quick Settings, flexible sharing, faster, smoother and more powerful experience with ART and more. Zen UI running on Lollipop has a similar interface since there is not major change in Zen UI, but Android 5.0 adds several new features including Multi user support that lets you create separate users/profiles, screen pinning, Kids mode, ZenMotion that lets you open apps instantly by drawing letters on the screen in sleep mode and more. All the features might not be available for all the Zenfone variants.
