With the latest update, users will see a small section to reply after receiving a notification. After hitting the reply button users will enter an overlay where they can tye their reply and send it without actually opening the full-blown Messenger app.  Users can also reply to the message with an emoji by simply tapping the emoji button and sending it forward. Google has also adds the option to “Open Messenger” in case you don’t want to use Quick Reply.

The Messenger app was launched by Google in November last year. It received support for animated GIF and widget last month.
