Rooting Your Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge Will Disable Samsung Pay

Samsung phones are known to have a lot of bloatware and people usually root their phones to remove certain applications that can’t be otherwise removed. But now a report says that rooting your Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge will disable the Samsung Pay feature on your device.

Facebook and Whatsapp for example came preloaded on the Galaxy Note 4 and there was no way to uninstall it unless you rooted the device. You could disable it but not uninstall it fully without rooting. When you root your S6/S6 Edge the Samsung Pay feature will get disabled along with KNOX. This is because the security of the device is compromised and that’s something essential for something like mobile payments.

Samsung Pay is quite advanced and has features that are not available on Apple Pay or Android Pay. For example it can be used for NFC based payments and also MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission). The advantage of MST is that it allows you to use your phone as a method of payment almost at any terminal where cards with magentic strips are supported. Samsung Pay basically lets your device mimic the swiping of a card on an MST something which it got by acquiring LoopPay. LoopPay was initially trying to launch cases (particularly for iPhones) that had MST built into them. But Samsung took it a step further and incorporated it into their phones namely the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

So if this is a feature that you value and might be using in the future, do think twice before rooting your device.
