Even though the look of the Zen UI is similar in the Zenfone 2, Android 5.0 adds several new features including Multi user support that lets you create separate users/profiles. This keeps the UI and apps separately for each users, but the app updates are common.

The Zenfone 2 also has built-in call recording feature that lets you records your calls without rooting your phone or installing any external apps. The quality of the audio recorded is pretty good.

Asus Zenfone 2 Screen Pinning

Another interesting feature in Zenfone 2 is screen pinning. This can be accessed from the multitasking screen. There is a pin icon which you can click to lock the display in a single view. This is more useful when you don’t want to get to the homescreen accidentally when you are playing a game. To unlock you can press and hold the back and menu / overview buttons at the same time.

Kids mode lets you restrict the apps that you want your kids to use. The Kids mode can’t be turned off without a pin you set. It has several icon packs and also lets you download more from the store.

The phone also has several modes that includes, balanced mode, reading mode, vivid mode and customized mode. Balanced is the normal mode, reading mode increases the yellow tinge for better reading, vivid mode increases the color and the customized mode lets you adjust the color temperature, hue and saturation manually.

ZenMotion is a new feature that lets you open apps instantly by drawing letters on the screen in sleep mode. This simultaneously wakes up the phone and opens the particular app instantly. You can customize the gestures from the settings.

Asus Zenfone 2 Gaming

The Zenfone 2 ZE500CL is powered by a dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 clocked at 1.6 GHz with PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU and has 2GB RAM. Check out the RipTide GP2 to check the gaming performance of the smartphone.

As you can see, the gameplay was smooth without any lags. Thanks to 2GB RAM, the performance is slightly better than the Zenfone 5 even if some apps are running in the background. The Zenfone 5 did not have support for USB controller, but the Zenfone 2 ZE500CL even supports USB controllers.

The Zenfone 5 got four out of five stars in gaming review for the smooth gameplay and excellent graphics. The Zenfone 2 is likely to get the same or even better. We will be getting our hands on the top of the line Zenfone 2 ZE551ML version pretty soon. Asus is brining the Zenfone 2 to India later this month.
