Amazon announces new Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 with Snapdragon 805

Amazon has updated its Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 tablet. It has a that same 8.9-inch ( 2560 x 1600 pixels) display, but now it is powered by a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, instead of Snapdragon 800 on last year’s Fire HDX 8.9. It runs on the new Fire OS 4.0 Sangria based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with 5P f/2.2 lens and a front-facing 720p HD camera.

It is the first tablet to incorporate Dolby Atmos that would offer enhanced audio with its integrated stereo speakers.

The new Kindle Fire HDX 8.9″ starts at $379 for the 3G version and the 4G version for AT&T or Verizon starts at $529. It is available for pre-order from Amazon in the US and would ship starting from October 21st.
