Samsung is expected to announce the rumored Gear Solo at the IFA 2014 on September 3rd, along with the Galaxy Note 4, according to Korean publication Yonhap News. The official invite for the IFA 2014 from Samsung did not hint anything else other than the Note 4, but the company released all its Gear watches along with the Galaxy S5 at the MWC 2014 earlier this year, so we can expect anything.

The Samsung Gear Solo (SM-R710) appeared on the  India import/export website back in May and is expected to have a built-in SIM card or USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) to use it as a standalone mobile device without pairing it to a smartphone. According to the report, the Gear Solo would come with 3G connectivity, but not include 4G LTE support. Since Samsung Gear 2 series had Heart rate sensor, the Gear Solo might also come with an heartrate sensor.

Earlier reports said that it would be initially released in Korea in partnership with the local operator SK Telecom and would be released globally later. Samsung unveiled the Gear Live, it’s first Android Wear smartwatch at the Google I/O in June.
