Micromax launched the Unite 2, the company’s latest budget smartphone running on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash. It has a 4.7-inch WVGA screen, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor with Mali 400 GPU and packs 1GB of RAM. It also comes with 3G connectivity, dual SIM support and a removable 2000 mAh battery.
Few weeks after launching the Unite 2 A106 running Android 4.4 (KitKat), the Micromax Unite A092 has been listed on the official website. It also comes with support for 20 Indian languages, similar to Unite 2, but this runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It has a 4-inch WVGA screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 (MSM8212) processor. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Micromax is considering to enter the growing wearables market, according to the Times of India. The company’s newly appointed Chairman Sanjay Kapoor stated that Micromax could expand its offerings beyond smartphones and tablets and foray into wearable devices and machine-to-machine products.

The company recently appointed former Samsung India Mobile business head Vineet Taneja as its Chief Executive Officer. Micromax has announced that it has appointed Vineet Taneja as Chief Executive Officer. He previously served as country Head for IT & Mobile businesses of Samsung India before leaving the company few weeks back. He joined Samsung back in March 2013 and had previously served in Bharti Airtel, Nokia India (between January 2008 to April 2010) and Hindustan Lever. He will focus on consolidating Micromax’s strong presence in the market, driving global partnerships and strategic alliances while strengthening the organizational capabilities within Micromax, said the company. Micromax is working on their first LTE smartphone that would be powered by NVDIA’s Tegra 4i processor, according to a Twitter user @LeaksterInc. The user has also leaked the press image of the smartphone that resembles the Wiko Wax smartphone from the French manufacturer Wiko. Micromax was the first Indian OEM to launch Tegra 2-powered smartphone, Micromax A85 back in 2011, but it did not tie-up with NVIDIA after that.
