Apple Home Hub expected at Oct 13 event; Touch-screen OLED MacBook Pro, OLED iPad mini expected on Oct 27

Apple Welcome Home event invite

Apple Inc. is preparing an expansive series of hardware announcements this month, spanning two distinct events aimed at refreshing both its smart home portfolio and core computing line. Marketing chief Greg Joswiak announced that the company will kick off its product rollouts on Tuesday, October 13, with invites mentioning ‘Welcome Home’.

Rather than a conventional keynote, the Oct. 13 gathering will feature an online video presentation paired with in-person media hands-on sessions in New York City.

The announcements represent an early milestone for newly appointed Chief Executive Officer John Ternus, who assumed leadership last month with an agenda to enter new markets and expand services revenue.

Event Window Primary Category Format Key Hardware
Oct. 13 Smart Home Ecosystem Online presentation + NYC press hands-on Dedicated smart display hub, updated HomePod mini, new Apple TV, Siri AI integrations
Late October (Est. Oct. 27) Mac & iPad Lineup Online presentation + in-person press event First touch-screen OLED MacBook Pro, M6 MacBook Pro & iMac, redesigned iPad mini
Expanding the Smart Home Strategy

The Oct. 13 presentation is said to focus on Apple’s renewed effort to gain ground in connected home infrastructure, a sector where Amazon.com Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google have historically maintained strong market share.

To counter these platforms, Apple is said to be preparing to unveil its first dedicated smart home hub equipped with a display, alongside a refreshed HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV set-top box. Central to this lineup is the integration of Apple’s Siri AI assistant. The company’s ecosystem strategy will also incorporate third-party accessory partnerships, including integrations with LG Electronics Inc. and Schneider Electric SE.

The Apple ‘Welcome Home’ event on October 13th starts at 9AM ET (6:30 PM IST).

Touch-Screen Macs and M6 Upgrades

Following the home-focused announcements, Apple is planning a second product debut targeted for on or around Tuesday, Oct. 27, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Tailored primarily to creative professionals in video, audio, and photo production, the event follows a similar press-and-video model last staged by the company in Los Angeles in 2024.

The late-October showcase will introduce Apple’s first touch-screen laptops alongside several internal processor updates:

  • Touch-Screen MacBook Pros (Code-named K114 & K116): Built with OLED display panels, the redesigned laptops are planned to be lighter than their predecessors and will integrate the Dynamic Island interface previously native to the iPhone line.
  • M6 Computing Upgrades (Code-named J804 & J833): The 14-inch MacBook Pro and the desktop iMac will receive the next-generation M6 processor family, maintaining their current external chassis designs.
  • Redesigned iPad mini (Code-named J510): The compact tablet will transition to an OLED display, adopt a landscape-oriented front-facing camera for video conferencing, and feature an overhauled internal speaker design.

The planned October debuts represent the first wave of a broader hardware roadmap, with additional Mac and iPad updates slated for the first half of next year.
