LightFury Games, an India-based AAA game-tech studio, has released the second official teaser for its flagship title, eCricket. The video crossed one million views over the weekend, marking a notable milestone in player interest ahead of the game’s upcoming testing phase.
Alongside the teaser release, the studio announced that Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has joined LightFury Games as an investor and an officially licensed in-game player.
Sharma becomes the eighth high-profile cricketer to back the company, joining an investor roster that already includes MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Tilak Varma, and Sai Sudharsan. In addition to his financial backing and digital likeness, Sharma is set to consult on competitive gameplay and realism.
Focus on Ultimate Squad and Licensed Rosters
The newly unveiled teaser highlights “Ultimate Squad,” a core game mode designed to offer strategic squad-building mechanics. The mode features a roster of more than 700 officially licensed players from across the global cricket circuit, allowing players to assemble custom teams and implement tactical matchups.
The studio also confirmed the inclusion of former Indian cricketer and broadcast personality Navjot Singh Sidhu as one of the in-game commentators, forming part of a wider multi-voice broadcast setup intended to mirror televised match coverage.
Pre-Registrations and Closed Beta Schedule
According to LightFury Games, over 300,000 users have registered for early access. The studio plans to begin a phased closed beta rollout in September 2026. This early access period is intended to gather direct player feedback to fine-tune game mechanics, server stability, and balancing ahead of the planned commercial release later in the year.
Studio Ambitions
Developed to cater to domestic and international audiences, eCricket is positioned around competitive multiplayer gameplay, physics modeling, licensed athlete likenesses, and community features. LightFury Games aims to leverage the global cricket fan base to establish a long-term interactive sports franchise capable of competing within the broader AAA sports gaming sector.
Commenting on the announcement, Karan Shroff, co-founder and CEO, LightFury Games, said:
India has been one of the world’s largest gaming markets for years. Our ambition is to show that India can build defining game franchises for the world. eCricket is our commitment to creating an authentic, competitive and technologically advanced cricket experience – made in India, for the world. The response so far, with over 300,000 sign-ups and our latest teaser crossing one million views, reinforces both the scale of that opportunity and the passion cricket fans have for this category.
Rohit Sharma said:
High-performance sport is built on preparation, precision and the pursuit of continuous improvement. I see those same values reflected in what LightFury Games is building with eCricket. Their ambition to create a world-class cricket experience from India is compelling, and I’m excited to support that vision while helping bring the game closer to millions of cricket fans around the world.
