Google expands Gemini features for Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, Flip8, Watch9 and intelligent eyewear at Galaxy Unpacked 2026

Google has announced new Gemini Intelligence features for Samsung devices at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in London. The updates include expanded Gemini task automation with support for more apps, Gemini Notebook integration on Samsung foldables, and Gemini-powered experiences on Galaxy watches and intelligent eyewear.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 at the event, with Google announcing new Gemini capabilities for these devices.

Gemini task automation expands to more than 40 apps

Google is expanding Gemini task automation support from a limited number of apps to more than 40 popular apps. The feature was introduced as a beta in February, allowing users to delegate everyday tasks to Gemini, including ordering a rideshare and getting takeout delivery.

With the expanded support, Gemini can assist with daily tasks such as:

  • Shopping
  • Making restaurant reservations
  • Booking travel experiences
  • Purchasing event tickets

On the Galaxy Z Flip8, users can access Gemini task automation directly from the Flex Window by long pressing the power button.

Gemini can now use advanced reasoning to understand screen content and process complex images as prompts. Users can share visual inputs such as shopping lists or inspiration photos to help Gemini understand their requirements.

While Gemini completes a task, users can track step-by-step progress, continue using other apps or close their phone while Gemini runs in the background. Users can also adjust specific details during the process before returning control to Gemini. The system will notify users when the task is ready for review and final confirmation.

Gemini Notebook integration for Samsung foldables

Google is bringing Gemini Notebook, previously known as NotebookLM, to Samsung’s new foldable devices. The app uses Google’s multimodal AI models to help users manage research and complex projects.

On the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8, users can drag and drop content into a side-by-side workspace, including:

  • Photos
  • Documents
  • Whiteboard images
  • Voice recordings
  • Other files

Gemini Notebook allows users to ask questions about their sources and create AI-generated resources such as:

  • Slide decks
  • Videos
  • Flash cards
  • Quizzes
  • Podcasts

Google is also including a six-month trial of Google AI Pro with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. The trial provides access to features including Audio Overviews, Video Overviews and Slides.

Gemini expands to watches and glasses

Google is extending Gemini support beyond smartphones to Samsung wearables and intelligent eyewear.

On the Galaxy Watch9, users can access Gemini by raising their wrist and asking questions without using a wake word.

Google is also bringing Gemini to intelligent eyewear developed in partnership with Samsung and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. At Galaxy Unpacked 2026, Google revealed two additional frames and shared more details about Gemini-powered experiences on the glasses.

Users wearing a compatible Wear OS watch will be able to control the glasses using hand gestures.

Availability

Gemini Intelligence features will be available on Samsung’s latest devices, including:

  • Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold8
  • Galaxy Z Flip8
  • Galaxy Watch9

Gemini Notebook will come preinstalled on Samsung’s new foldable devices.

The intelligent eyewear developed with Samsung and eyewear partners Gentle Monster and Warby Parker is expected to launch in fall 2026. Google said additional Gemini Intelligence features will be rolled out as they become available.
