Google TV gets Gemini-powered AI features for creation, search and streaming

Google has rolled out new updates for Google TV, introducing AI-powered creative tools, improved Google Photos integration, and a new short-video experience on the Home screen. The update aims to make the TV more personalised, interactive, and useful beyond traditional streaming.

With this rollout, Google TV adds features for creating images and videos, searching and remixing photos, and discovering short-form content directly from the Home interface.

AI image and video creation on Google TV

Google TV is introducing generative AI tools that allow users to create images and videos using simple voice or text prompts.

With Nano Banana, users can:

  • Edit existing photos with creative changes

Both tools are available through the Gemini tab under the “Create” option.

Google TV now improves access to Google Photos by allowing users to search their photo library using voice.

Users can:

  • Find specific memories such as trips or events
  • View results in a browsable full-screen layout
  • Open images or start slideshows directly from results

Google TV adds new ways to edit and display photos on the big screen.

Users can:

  • Convert photos into artistic styles like watercolor or oil painting
  • Turn albums into dynamic slideshows with collages and visuals
  • Use Google Photos as a screensaver source through Quick Settings

Short videos on Google TV Home

A new “Short videos for you” row is coming to the Google TV Home screen.

This feature will:

  • Provide direct access to snackable video content on TV
