LG UltraGear evo 5K gaming monitors unveiled ahead of CES 2026

LG Electronics has announced the global launch of UltraGear evo, a new premium gaming monitor brand that will debut at CES 2026. The first UltraGear evo lineup includes three flagship models — 39GX950B, 27GM950B, and 52G930B — all built around high-resolution displays and advanced panel technologies.

On-device AI and 5K AI Upscaling

The UltraGear evo lineup introduces LG’s newly developed on-device AI solution. The system enables the world’s first 5K AI Upscaling, designed to enhance lower-resolution content to near-5K clarity without requiring GPU upgrades. AI features include 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization, and AI Sound, and are available exclusively on the 39GX950B and 27GM950B models equipped with the on-device AI hardware.

39-inch UltraGear evo GX9 (39GX950B)

The 39GX950B is a 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor based on LG’s GX9 series. With the on-device AI solution, content is analyzed and processed in real time before reaching the panel, improving clarity, image balance, and audio output.

The monitor uses Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology, delivering higher brightness, improved color accuracy, extended panel lifespan, perfect blacks, and accurate color reproduction. It supports Dual Mode, allowing users to switch between 165Hz at 5K2K resolution and 330Hz at WFHD, combined with an ultra-fast 0.03ms (GtG) response time.

The display features a 1500R-curved 21:9 ultrawide panel that retains the vertical viewing height of a 32-inch display while expanding horizontal screen space. It offers 142 PPI pixel density and carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification for controlled highlights and deep black levels.

27-inch UltraGear evo GM9 (27GM950B)

The 27GM950B is positioned as the world’s first 27-inch 5K New MiniLED gaming monitor designed to significantly reduce blooming. The panel features 2,304 local dimming zones and incorporates Zero Optical Distance engineering to minimize the gap between the MiniLED backlight and the display panel.

The monitor supports the same on-device AI features as the 39GX950B, including 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization, and AI Sound, operating without GPU overhead.

For performance flexibility, the display supports Dual Mode, enabling switching between 165Hz at 5K resolution and 330Hz at QHD, paired with a 1ms (GtG) response time. It is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified and delivers peak brightness of up to 1,250 nits, supporting precise luminance control across bright and dark scenes.

52-inch UltraGear evo G9 (52G930B)

The 52G930B expands the UltraGear evo range as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor. It combines a 52-inch display with a 240Hz refresh rate, targeting large-format gaming and multitasking setups.

The panel provides the vertical height of a standard 42-inch 16:9 display, extended horizontally into a 12:9 panoramic format, creating a workspace that is 33 percent wider than a standard UHD monitor. A 1000R curvature surrounds the user’s peripheral vision. The display is certified VESA DisplayHDR 600, supporting controlled contrast and consistent color output.

CES 2026 showcase and additional UltraGear launch

LG will showcase the UltraGear evo lineup at CES 2026 through two experience zones: the “Dream Setup”, inspired by gaming communities on Reddit, and a racing simulation powered by SimCraft featuring the 39-inch GX9.

Alongside the evo series, LG confirmed that global sales of the UltraGear GX7 (27GX790B) will begin on the opening day of CES 2026. The monitor features a 27-inch QHD Primary RGB Tandem OLED display, a 540Hz refresh rate, and Dual Mode support enabling up to 720Hz at HD resolution.

Speaking on the launch, Lee Choong-hwoan, Head of the Display Business at the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, said:

The new UltraGear evo represents a clear turning point, marking the end of compromises in gaming display performance. With innovations such as industry-first 5K AI Upscaling, the lineup ensures that whether gamers prioritise perfect blacks, high brightness, or expansive screen size, they experience the same consistent standard of performance, clarity, and immersion in high resolution. This also reflects our strength in delivering high-resolution technology not only to the B2C gaming market, but through precision-focused B2B solutions such as medical monitors.
