LG CineBeam S 4K UST projector global roll out begins

LG has started rolling out the CineBeam S (model PU615U), a compact 4K Ultra Short Throw (UST) projector globally, after it was introduced at the CES earlier this year. This new model follows the CineBeam Q, aiming to provide a flexible home entertainment solution that combines high-resolution imaging with a small footprint.

The CineBeam S utilizes UST technology, allowing it to project large images from a very short distance. Positioned 8.1 centimeters from a wall or screen, it can produce a 40-inch image. At a distance of 39.3 centimeters, the projection size increases to 100 inches. This design eliminates the need for long throw distances and complex mounting, making it suitable for smaller living spaces. The projector’s dimensions are 110×160×160 millimeters, and it weighs 1.9 kilograms.

In terms of performance, the device projects a 4K resolution image (3,840×2,160 pixels). It features an RGB laser light source that covers 154% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The projector has a brightness of 500 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 450,000:1. For audio, it is equipped with built-in stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos.

The CineBeam S runs on LG’s webOS smart TV platform, providing access to various streaming services. Connectivity options include one HDMI port, two USB Type-C ports, and wireless streaming support via AirPlay 2 and Screen Share for connecting smartphones, tablets, and PCs.

To simplify installation, the projector includes several setup features. The Auto Screen Adjustment function automatically aligns the image. Users can also digitally adjust the picture using Screen Scaling & Shifting without physically moving the unit. A Wall Color Adjustment feature is included to optimize the image when projecting onto non-white surfaces.

The projector is controlled via a redesigned remote or through a smartphone using the LG ThinQ app. The device’s exterior features a minimalist design with a metallic finish, intended to blend into various interior designs.

Pricing and availability

The LG CineBeam S is priced at AUD 2,499 (USD 1614 / Rs. 1,41,755 approx.) in Australia and 1.79 million won (USD 1,289 / Rs. 1,13,180 approx.) in Korea, where it is available as CineBeam Shorts. It will also be available in Canada and several countries in Europe and Asia.
