Apple is apparently hard at work researching different ways to integrate chargers, heart-rate monitors and fingerprint sensors into their logos.This would help make the devices thinner and lighter.
A new patent called ‘Concealed Electrical Connectors’ will reportedly allow integration of electrical systems onto existing apertures or anomalies such as the Apple logo on every iPhone and iPad. These electrical contacts can be neatly concealed under the Apple logo or for instance one contact can be hidden under each letter in the iPhone or ipad branding.
The word ‘Phone’ for example can hold anywhere between 3 to 8 insulated connections and then inserts can be used to pair these different connections together. Such implementation can be used in numerous ways such as heart-rate monitors, fingerprint sensors or even for docking and charging purposes. Wireless charging such as the one found on the Apple Watch is also possible through this method.
While it isn’t clear if this technology will make its way to products launching in the near future such as the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, it still is possible to integrate it into these phones. The patent was filed back in December 2013 and was apparently invented by Nicholas.V King. We hope to see this technology being implemented in one way or another in upcoming Apple products.
