Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Note 3 starting from Poland, according to a report from Sammobile. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was the first phone from Samsung to run on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. The company released their Galaxy Tablets at the CES 2014 last week running on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Looks like the Note 3 is the first Samsung smartphone to run on Android 4.4.

According to the report, only the Snapdragon variant (SM-N9005) of the phone is getting the KitKat update right now via Kies. The build number is N9005XXUENA6 and the firmware build is dated Thu, 09 Jan 2014 14:20:24.  The update bring minor UI changes and under the hood improvements such as

  • Status bar icons now in KitKat white from Green
  • Lockscreen Camera shortcut
  • Full screen music album art in the lockscreen
  • Performance improvements

Official changelog for the update is not available yet. The update would gradually roll out worldwide, so it might takes months for the roll out to complete.  It is not clear when the Exynos variant (SM-N9000) would get the update.
