Nokia 114 with Urdu language capability launch

Nokia India launched the 114, an affordable feature phone in India back in January earlier this year, now the company has launched the 114 again, but this has Urdu language support along with the Urdu keypad. With this, Nokia becomes the first ever company to launch a device device with Urdu language option in the country. This is a part of strategy of democratizing the reach and benefits of mobile telephony for consumers, says Nokia India.

It was launched at an event by Shri Kapil Sibal, Honourable Minister of Communications and Information Technology along with P. Balaji, Managing Director, Nokia India in Delhi today. The first Nokia 114 with Urdu capabilities was handed over to Muzaffar Ali, noted film-maker, poet, a revivalist and a social worker.

Nokia had been launching devices with support for 11 Indian languages including Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Punjabi, and Marathi since 2008. It introduced an Akshar, an app for the Asha Touch range of affordable smartphones that allows consumers to interact in their local language.

Other features are similar to the original Nokia 114 including a 1.8-inch (128 x 160 pixels) display, T9 keypad, VGA camera, Dual SIM Easy Swap technology that lets you switch SIM cards without switching off the device and a memory card slot that lets you expand the memory up to 32GB. It has 1020 mAh battery that offers up to 10.5 hours of talk time.

The Nokia 114 with Urdu capabilities is priced at Rs. 2,579.
