Google released the new Nexus 7 manufactured by Asus last month. We brought you the unboxing of the device last week, here we have the benchmarks of the device. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) CPU and Adreno 320 GPU and has 2GB of RAM. The first Nexus was powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 3 GPU and had 1GB of RAM. We had already seen the Snapdragon S4 Pro chip in several smartphones including the Nexus 4 and the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Let’s see how it performs on the new Nexus 7 with a 7-inch 1920×1200 HD display and the latest Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS.

Quadrant Benchmark

Nexus 7 2013 Quadrant

The new Nexus 7 scores over 5800 points better than most of the devices, but it couldn’t beat the Galaxy Note 8.0 powered by a quad-core Exynos chip.

AnTuTu Benchmark 3.3

In the AnTuTu Benchmark 3.3, it scores 19963 points and lies behind the Xperia Tablet Z powered by the same chip.

It scores 758 points in the Vellamo 2 Metal CPU subsystem performance scores and tops it.

Linpack Single Thread

It is just behind the Sony Xperia Tablet Z in the linpack single thread benchmark.

It clocks 16 fps and tops the GFXBenchmark T-Rex GPU benchmark.

GFXBenchmark 2.5 Egypt HD (On screen)

It clocks 41 fps and tops once again in the GFXBenchmark 2.5 Egypt benchmark.

Basemark X HD (Onscreen)

It clock around 8.3 fps and lies in the second spot just behind the Apple iPad mini.

However it tops the Basemark X Offscreen benchmark by clocking 8.2 fps.
