Google and XREAL have announced XREAL AURA, the first wired extended reality (XR) glasses powered by Android XR. The glasses bring Android apps and Gemini to a wearable display for work, video streaming and gaming.
XREAL AURA
XREAL AURA uses transparent lenses to project spatial content into the user’s field of view while allowing them to see the real world. The glasses weigh less than 95g and connect by cable to a portable compute puck that handles processing and houses the battery and Snapdragon Reality Elite platform from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. The platform debuts with the device.
The glasses have a 70-degree field of view and run Android XR, providing access to millions of apps from Google Play, including more than 150 developed for XR. Gemini can understand what users see and do in their surroundings and on their screens, allowing them to have conversations and get help across apps.

Features
Multitasking and laptop connectivity
Users can open multiple apps, including a browser, work documents and a music app, and arrange them at different sizes. They can connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse or use the compute puck as a trackpad to create a multi-monitor workspace at home, in a hotel or on an airplane.
Wired Mirroring extends this workspace to a laptop. Users can connect it through a USB-C cable that supports video output, without installing additional software. The laptop screen appears as a resizable window that can be positioned alongside Android XR apps. The display is visible only to the wearer, allowing users to view confidential documents in public spaces.

Gemini works across the content in view, including the mirrored laptop screen. Users can ask it to organise windows or brainstorm ideas based on what they are viewing. By sharing their view, they can also ask Gemini to highlight details in their surroundings or on their screens.
Video streaming and spatial content
XREAL AURA supports YouTube, Google TV and other streaming services. Users can dim the lenses to reduce the visibility of their surroundings; the lenses become transparent again when someone comes into view.
The available immersive content includes 180-degree and 360-degree videos and 3D movies on YouTube and Google TV. New XR films and performances include:
- Nevatars, co-directed by Andy Serkis and Josh Nelson Youssef.
- Galapagos: the Last Eden, narrated by Margot Robbie and from Atlantic Studios.
- The Nutcracker, a production by the San Francisco Ballet.

Beyond dedicated immersive content, the spatial view feature converts almost any video, photo or game into 3D with a tap and supports higher-resolution content. Window follow mode keeps an app centred in front of the user, allowing them to view content in different positions. When they move, the app can shift to a mini-view at the edge of their field of vision to keep their path clear.
Google Photos will add a spatial gallery in 2026. Users will be able to explore their photo library with hand movements, navigate from an entire year to a specific day and open selected memories in 3D.
Gaming
XREAL AURA supports thousands of mobile and tablet games from Google Play. Users can also bring games from a handheld device, PC or console into their field of view through Wired Mirroring. Other apps, including a YouTube walkthrough or a chat with friends, can remain open alongside a game.
Gemini can help users work through gameplay questions while playing Android titles or streaming games from a PC or console, without requiring them to put down their controller. XR games from Owlchemy Labs and Resolution Games are also available, with hand-based controls. New titles include Fallout Factions and Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars.
