realme has announced that the global rollout of ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, will begin on October 29, 2026. The update will introduce ColorOS 17 as the company’s new system platform, following closer collaboration with the ColorOS team.
Chase Xu (@ChaseXu_), Vice President of realme and President of realme Global Marketing, announced the update on X, saying,
I’m excited to share what’s next for realme: ColorOS 17, bringing a smarter, smoother experience to you.
He added,
I hope you’ll enjoy this next chapter as much as I’m looking forward to it. More to come…
realme ColorOS 17 features
In a statement to realme users, Chase Xu said the company had focused on bringing technology to younger users since 2018. He noted that smartphone expectations had evolved beyond powerful hardware, with users looking for software that is smarter, smoother and more intuitive.
According to Xu, ColorOS 17 will bring more advanced software experiences to realme users worldwide while retaining the experiences and identity associated with realme. The transition from realme UI 7.0 to ColorOS 17 focuses on performance and AI features.
- Silky Smooth: Animations and interactions are intended to remain fluid over time, while smart resource management aims to maintain consistent performance.
- Flow with AI: The agentic AI features go beyond basic question-and-answer interactions. They can proactively help users organise content, create content and complete tasks, supporting activities such as creating, learning, playing and connecting.
