OPPO has announced ColorOS 17, the latest version of its mobile operating system. The update introduces a redesigned interface, changes to system rendering and resource scheduling, and expanded AI capabilities for managing files, editing photos and organizing information.
ColorOS 17

ColorOS 17 introduces Living Flow Design, following Parallel Animation in ColorOS 15 and Seamless Animation in ColorOS 16. The new design combines three elements: Luminous Effect, Fluid Motion and Flexible Feedback.
Living Flow Design
- Luminous Effect: Uses softer, translucent visuals to establish depth and visual hierarchy. Lighting effects guide attention and respond to touch.
- Fluid Motion: Allows interface elements to move, merge and transform between states, maintaining continuity across the system.
- Flexible Feedback: Makes buttons, toolbars and other interactive elements compress, stretch and rebound in response to taps.
These changes extend to app transitions, Fluid Cloud, notification panels and music controls. The lock screen clock transforms as users move to the home screen, while interface elements respond to taps and drags. The music progress bar also uses a pulsing light effect that responds to track changes and touch.

Unified Rendering Architecture
ColorOS 17 uses a Unified Rendering Architecture built on the refreshed Luminous Rendering Engine. It brings previously separate rendering processes into a unified pipeline, reducing redundant operations while supporting visual effects and transitions.
According to OPPO, the architecture reduces rendering loads by up to 30% and RAM usage for rendering by up to 25% in key scenarios compared with the previous generation.
Laminar Flow Engine
The upgraded Laminar Flow Engine manages system resources through OPPO’s Adaptive Scheduling Architecture. It coordinates foreground and background workloads, adapting resource allocation to the tasks running on the device.
Compared with ColorOS 16, OPPO reports the following improvements:
- App launch stability improves by 55%.
- Gallery thumbnails load up to 50% faster on first launch.
- More than 25% more apps can remain running in the background.
OPPO also says ColorOS 17 retains over 90% of its initial smoothness in tests simulating six years of use, even when storage reaches 90% capacity.
OPPO AI adds system-level task automation
ColorOS 17 expands OPPO AI with system-level agentic capabilities that can search across multiple sources, work with device content, use relevant tools and coordinate multiple steps to complete tasks.
AI Mind Pilot
AI Mind Pilot introduces Agent Mode, which works directly with photos and files stored on the device to carry out user requests. It can find and organize scattered files, rename them based on their content and date, and use information within them to create outputs such as travel itineraries and webpages.

It can also find photos from a specific trip, sort them into albums, turn a selected photo into a vlog cover and adapt images for other creative uses.
AI Photo Agent
AI Photo Agent supports natural-language photo editing and provides recommendations based on an image’s scene and subject. Its editing approach is intended to preserve the natural look and character of the original scene while allowing users to adjust the image.

Users can describe the edits they want or let AI Photo Agent analyze an image and recommend suitable changes. The Style Match feature analyzes a reference image’s colour palette, tone and overall mood before applying a similar look to the user’s photo. Users can also choose built-in templates, use editing suggestions as a starting point and describe their preferred changes in a prompt.
AI Mind Space
AI Mind Space, OPPO’s personal information hub, can save documents and video links. AI recognizes their content and converts the information into structured, searchable personal memories.
The new Memory Collections feature automatically groups related memories into collections and summaries as saved information grows. For travel planning, it can combine saved content with destination maps to create personalized trip plans based on the places, ideas and information users have collected.
AI Mind Suggest
AI Mind Suggest provides contextual information and services throughout the day. It can deliver morning briefs, travel reminders, and flight and train cards containing relevant journey information. It can also recommend music when headphones are connected.
OSee
OSee brings OPPO’s visual AI capabilities into one experience. With a single press of the camera shutter, it can identify objects and scenes and connect users to relevant services without requiring them to select separate tools.
Supported functions include object recognition, knowledge lookup, nutrition analysis, high-definition scanning and translation.
Privacy and security features
ColorOS 17 introduces the following privacy and security features:
- Private Computing Cloud (PCC): Uses end-to-end encryption to protect data processed by cloud-based AI services. OPPO says the secure environment is designed to prevent access by third parties, including OPPO itself.
- Post-quantum security: Adds a dual-encryption mechanism to PCC to help protect data transmitted between the device and the cloud against emerging threats associated with quantum computing.
- Transparency Report: Shows which AI services have been used, when they were accessed and what operations were performed. Users can view the report on their devices and export it when needed.
AI Call Guard and fraud detection
AI Call Guard uses on-device AI to monitor calls in real time for potential fraud risks and alerts users when it detects suspicious activity. ColorOS 17 includes the following detection features:

- AI Face Swap Detection: Helps identify manipulated faces in videos.
- Synthetic Voice Recognition: Detects AI-generated voices during phone calls and WhatsApp calls.
Enhanced Protection Mode provides a simplified interface with larger visuals and clearer audio, along with additional protection against scams.
AI Live Interpreter
AI Live Interpreter translates conversations through earbuds and uses speaker recognition to support communication across languages.
ColorOS 17: Roll-Out Timeline
ColorOS 17 will debut on the upcoming OPPO Find X10 Series, followed by a progressive rollout to additional OPPO devices worldwide as follows:
