Amazon has introduced a redesigned Kindle family comprising the new Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft. The lineup features a new reverse stack display construction, flush-front displays, edge-to-edge color, and thinner and lighter designs. Amazon says Kindle has recorded double-digit global growth for three consecutive years, with more than 720 billion pages read in 2025.
New Kindle design and display architecture
The new Kindle family uses a reverse stack display construction, which Amazon says is a first for the e-reader category. All three devices feature flush-front displays without a raised border interrupting the reading surface. The construction enables a thinner, more portable design, while the device color extends from the front to the back.
The lineup introduces Ube, Alpine Sky, Seaglass Green, and Graphite, while Fig is being introduced to e-readers for the first time.
New Kindle
The new Kindle has a 6-inch display, 16GB of storage, up to six weeks of battery life, and 30% faster book opening than the previous release. Amazon has redesigned how the display, front light, and touch layers are assembled and bonded to enable the flush-front design.

The housing uses recycled materials and includes a 100% recycled cobalt battery. For the first time, the 6-inch Kindle is also available with an aluminum back. It retains the same pocket-sized form factor and flush-front display, while the housing uses 80% recycled aluminum with a matte finish. This version has 32GB of storage.

New Kindle Paperwhite
The new Kindle Paperwhite is thinner and lighter than the previous version and includes waterproofing, an adjustable warm light, and up to 12 weeks of battery life on a single charge. Its display uses an oxide thin-film transistor backplane and is the largest Kindle Paperwhite display, with the highest contrast ratio in the Paperwhite lineup. It delivers deep blacks and crisp text.

The Paperwhite Signature Edition adds an aluminum rear housing, 32GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, pogo pin dock charging, and double tap to turn pages, while remaining thinner than the previous version.

Kindle Colorsoft
The new Kindle Colorsoft uses a completely redesigned display with a light guide that incorporates nitride LEDs to enhance color and increase brightness while retaining detail. It uses an oxide backplane with custom waveforms for fast performance and higher contrast for both color and black-and-white content.

The display uses reverse printing technology for edge-to-edge color across the lineup. Its light guide contains micro-deflectors that minimize stray light and improve uniformity, while an ultra-thin optical coating in the display stack improves clarity.

The Colorsoft Signature Edition adds aluminum housing, 32GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, double tap to turn pages, and pogo pin dock charging.
New Kids Kindle devices
The new Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft are also available in Kids versions. These models feature kid-friendly covers designed by artists and include 12 months of Amazon Kids+, providing access to thousands of books and audiobooks.
Amazon says children using Kindle read for more than an hour a day on average, without notifications, apps, or messaging.
New Kindle accessories
Amazon has introduced four accessory categories for the new Kindle lineup. The Kindle Click is a compact Bluetooth remote for page turning and works with all new Kindle devices, as well as any Kindle model from 2024 or later.

The Page-Turn Cover is a magnetic cover with physical page-turn buttons and pogo pin connectivity for the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition. It also preserves the slim form factor.
The Charging Dock keeps the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition upright and charged. Kindle Covers are available in knit fabric, plant-based leather, and pebbled premium leather, with full-device coverage and color-matched options across the lineup. Slim magnetic-attach covers are also available for devices with aluminum housing.
