Apple iPad Prices see steep increase in view of memory supply crunch

Apple has increased the prices of all models of the iPad starting from the entry level model to the iPad Pro. Even the base iPad model has not been spared and now starts at ₹49,900 with a 43% jump in price. The iPad Pro 13″ is the worst affected as it sees a 54% jump in price and starts at ₹1,99,900. The company had warned users of an imminent price hike due to memory chip crunch worldwide. Apple has also hiked the prices of Macs across its entire lineup. If you purchaed an Apple product recently, count yourself lucky! The complete list of price revision is given below for the base variant of every iPad.

While the prices are being hiked globally, India seems to be badly affected given the weak rupee as well with the dollar hovering around the 95 rupee mark. iPad prices in India market have increased between 39-54% while in the US market, it has been revised from 15 to 29% . One thing I am not able to understand is the nearly ₹70000 increase of the 13 inch iPad Pro. It was retailing under around ₹125,000 until recently.  Interestingly, the models listed are only the base WiFi variants, the cellular variants will see similar revisions too. Higher storage variants will be more expensive too.

Apple has already updated the updated pricing on its official store whereas other retailers are still displaying older prices. If you are in the market for an iPad, it might be a good idea to grab one from a retailer who is still selling at the old price. They are expected to revise the pricing soon.
