Google has announced a new set of Android features as part of the June Android Drop. The update includes new safety tools, personalization features, reading assistance capabilities, and expanded file-sharing options.
Announcing the update, Seang Chau, Vice President and General Manager of Android Platform, said the latest Android features focus on safety, personalization, and sharing across devices.
Phone by Google gets fake call detection
Google is introducing fake call detection to help users identify scammers impersonating trusted contacts. Phone by Google can verify whether an incoming call is actually coming from a contact’s device. If a caller attempts to spoof the number of someone in a user’s contacts, Android will display a warning.

Circle to Search can identify complete outfits
Circle to Search is gaining the ability to identify an entire outfit from content displayed on screen. Users can search for clothing items, including tops, footwear, and accessories, without switching between apps.

Google Photos adds a digital wardrobe
Google Photos is introducing a digital wardrobe feature that automatically catalogs clothing seen in a user’s photo library. The feature turns clothing into browseable snapshots, allowing users to mix and match outfits, virtually try on combinations, save favorite looks, and share them with friends.

Personal Safety app expands features for children and teens
Google is expanding Personal Safety app capabilities for younger users. Children under 13 will be able to display medical information and emergency contacts on their device’s lock screen. They will also be able to enable car crash detection, which can automatically contact emergency services and send messages to emergency contacts after an accident.

Teen users will gain access to additional safety tools, including Safety Check and real-time location sharing with emergency contacts.
Google Play Books gets Book Insights
Google Play Books is receiving new reading assistance features through Book Insights. The new “Catch me up” feature provides a recap of previously read content, helping readers continue where they left off. Users can also highlight passages and ask questions about themes, characters, and context while reading.

Quick Share expands Android and iPhone file sharing
Google is expanding file transfers between Android phones and iPhones. Quick Share now works with AirDrop on more Android devices, allowing users to transfer photos, videos, and documents between supported Android and iPhone devices. Files can be shared with or without an internet connection.

Emoji Kitchen gets new combinations
Gboard’s Emoji Kitchen is receiving additional emoji combinations. The update allows users to create new emoji mashups and custom sticker-style reactions by combining different emojis. Google highlighted examples ranging from animal-themed creations to combinations such as 🐝 + 💍.
