Sennheiser Profile Wireless microphone system gets Bluetooth connectivity

Sennheiser has released a new firmware update for its Profile Wireless microphone system, expanding its hardware capabilities to include direct Bluetooth connectivity. The update is applicable to both the one-channel and two-channel variations of the wireless set.

Firmware Update v 5.0.0 Details

With the introduction of firmware version 5.0.0, the compact clip-on microphone can now be paired directly with compatible mobile phones, tablets, and laptops. This addition is designed to facilitate a minimalist recording setup by allowing the microphone to communicate with devices without the strict need for a dedicated receiver.

The system supports the following connection protocols:

  • Bluetooth LE Audio: Utilizing the high-quality LC3 codec for efficient audio transmission.
  • Bluetooth Classic: Ensuring broad compatibility across standard Bluetooth-enabled devices.
Hardware Functionality

Alongside the new wireless pairing capabilities, the Profile Wireless clip-on unit retains its standard hardware features. The device can be fitted with an external lavalier microphone to create a more discreet recording solution. By design, connecting an external lavalier microphone will automatically disable the unit’s built-in microphone.

Availability

The v 5.0.0 firmware update is currently available for download via the Sennheiser Profile Wireless product page. Furthermore, Sennheiser has updated the official online manual to provide users with detailed instructions on operating the device in the newly introduced Bluetooth mode.
