Apple iPhone Fold with creaseless display, book-style design surfaces in new renders

Apple’s debut foldable iPhone, code-named V68, is forecasted for 2026 and is predicted to feature a book-style design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold. A recent video by Front Page Tech (fpt.), hosted by Jon Prosser, explores the alleged design, specifications, and rumors surrounding this highly anticipated device.

In the video, Prosser discussed the key features, potential hardware changes, and how Apple might address long-standing challenges with foldable phones.

iPhone Fold

For years, several manufacturers have developed foldable devices with clamshell and book-style formats. The video notes that Apple’s approach may prioritize a seamless display and refined hardware, rather than simply adopting existing foldable designs.

Design and Creaseless Display

The video indicates that Apple has reportedly selected a book-style foldable design instead of a clamshell “flip” style. The inner display is expected to measure 7.8 inches, while the outer display measures 5.5 inches.

Prosser explained that the device may use a combination of a pressure-dispersing metal plate, liquid metal in the hinge, and an in-cell touch panel to reduce the visibility of the fold and maintain touch accuracy.

The device is expected to measure roughly 9mm when folded and approximately 4.5mm when fully opened, offering a slim profile despite the dual-screen design.

Camera System

He noted that the iPhone Fold will reportedly feature four cameras:

  • Front camera on the outer display
  • Two rear cameras
  • One camera on the internal foldable display

This arrangement allows photography and video capture in both folded and unfolded modes.

Security Features

The video also highlighted that Face ID may be absent, with Touch ID returning integrated into the power button, which may be located at the top of the device. Gurman’s August 2025 report further confirms that the iPhone Fold will likely use an eSIM-only configuration, removing the physical SIM slot.

Performance, Modem, and Battery

The device is expected to include Apple’s second-generation C2 modem, supporting efficient connectivity and improved power management. Prosser mentioned that high-density battery cells could be used, enabled by a slimmed-down display driver, helping sustain the power requirements of a dual-screen device.

The inclusion of an in-cell touch display is also highlighted, which may reduce crease visibility and improve touch responsiveness.

Colors, Pricing, and Production

Initial production is reported to include black and white color options, with manufacturing expected to ramp up in early 2026. The device is anticipated to be priced between $2,000 and $2,500, positioning the iPhone Fold above the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The video suggested that this model could introduce a new premium “Ultra” tier.

Launch Timeline and Outlook

The video noted that the iPhone Fold could launch in September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. If Apple successfully delivers a foldable device without a visible crease, it could resolve a core limitation of current foldables and mark the company’s first significant entry into the foldable smartphone market.
