Intel launches Core Ultra H and U series for ‘AI PCs’ with integrated NPU


Intel has launched its new Intel Core Ultra mobile processors at the “AI Everywhere” event. These processors bring enhanced power efficiency, top-notch computing and graphics performance, and an excellent AI PC experience to mobile platforms and the edge.

The Intel Core Ultra is the most AI-capable and power-efficient client processor in Intel’s history, with dedicated AI acceleration across the CPU, GPU, and NPU architectures.

Over 100 independent software vendors (ISVs) and 300+ AI-accelerated features are optimized for Intel Core Ultra processors, providing three times more AI apps and frameworks than competitors.

Intel Core Ultra supports power-efficient AI acceleration at the edge, benefiting various vertical markets like healthcare, retail, and manufacturing. According to Intel, AI PCs are projected to constitute 80% of the PC market by 2028, reshaping the way we work, learn, and create.

Key Features of Intel Core Ultra Mobile Processors

Architectural Milestone: Built on Intel 4 process technology, the Intel Core Ultra represents the company’s largest architectural shift in 40 years, featuring Foveros 3D advanced packaging technology.

Performance and Efficiency: The new Performance-core (P-core) architecture, Efficient-cores (E-cores), and low-power Efficient-cores (LP E-cores) deliver up to 11% better multi-threaded performance, providing leadership CPU compute for ultrathin PCs.

Graphics Advancements: Equipped with Intel Arc GPU3 featuring up to eight Xe-cores, AI-based Xe Super Sampling, and double the graphics performance over the previous generation.

AI Boost Technology: The new Intel AI Boost NPU enhances power efficiency by 2.5x for longer-running AI workloads, complementing CPU and GPU AI processing.

Intel also introduced the 5th Gen Intel Xeon processor family, showcasing a significant leap in performance and efficiency. These processors offer up to 42% higher inference and fine-tuning on large AI models and contribute to a 77% reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO) for customers upgrading from older generations.

Intel Gaudi3 AI Accelerator

Intel’s CEO, Pat Gelsinger, showcased the Intel Gaudi3 AI accelerator, set to arrive next year. This next-gen AI accelerator promises breakthroughs in deep learning and large-scale generative AI models.
