ASUS to discontinue Zenfone smartphone line-up: Report

The ASUS Zenfone series is set to conclude with the Zenfone 10, as reported by Taiwanese media. This move is part of an “organizational restructuring” at ASUS that has affected their PC department across Taiwan and China.

Transition to Mobile Phone Divisions

According to an internal letter at ASUS, the plan was to move some of the employees from the PC department to the mobile phone divisions, namely Zenfone and ROG Phone. However, it seems that these employees were eventually let go instead.

The reason behind this change appears to be ASUS decision to discontinue the Zenfone series. The Zenfone team will no longer continue, and the employees from this team will either join other departments within the company or transition to the ROG Phone team.

ASUS had previously announced its intention to restructure the organization in June, with reassurances that no layoffs would occur. However, in July, the company did reduce the number of employees in its PC department, affecting teams in Taiwan and Suzhou, China.

Zenfone Series Conclusion

The Zenfone 10 will be the final device in the Zenfone lineup, bringing an end to a series that began in 2014. Despite its existence for several years, the Zenfone series never gained significant prominence in the Android market, particularly in the United States.

The Zenfone 10 was also available for pre-order in the United States a few weeks ago. It’s important to note that ASUS has not yet publicly commented on the reports of the Zenfone series conclusion.
