After teasers, Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of MIX Fold 3, the company’s next foldable phone in China on August 14th. It has also posted the images of the phone, revealing the design.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun says that the phone is both and light, and will be Xiaomi’s new breakthroughs in a series of underlying technology fields such as structure and technology.
The MIX Fold 2 used an innovative micro-water droplet hinge and stacking technology, making it just 11.2mm slim, when folded.
The company’s CEO said that Xiaomi has started the development of the MIX Fold 3 from scratch, and reconstruct from the original point. Through continuous efforts, Xiaomi engineers have come up with the optimal solution of current technology and craftsmanship when it comes to the hinge, he added.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 completely subverts the existing technology path of the industry by using “technology for space” with breakthrough hinge innovation, so it is both thin and light, creating a new standard for a folding screen.
The teaser also confirms a leather back for the black, and a glass back version will come in a gold colour. It also shows LEICA VARIO-SUMMICRON lens, f/1.8 to f/2.9 aperture for the main and the periscope telephoto camera.
Based on earlier rumours, the phone is said to include a 3.2X portrait camera and a 5X periscope telephoto camera. In addition to 67W wired fast charging, it is also said to include 50W wireless charging. We can expect Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for the phone.
