Telegram update brings Hidden Media, Profile Pictures for Your Contacts, and more

The popular chat application Telegram has been updated with new features such as Hidden Media, Profile Pictures for Your Contacts, and more. Earlier, the firm introduced a Telegram update that brings No SIM signup, auto-deleting all chats, Topics 2.0, and other new features as well.

Let’s explore the newly added features to the messaging service that this version brings in more detail below.

Hidden Media

Users can blur images and videos with a shimmering layer. One tap will reveal the message’s content. Spoiler formatting is already supported by Telegram to conceal any text in messages.

Zero Storage Usage

You can delete media and documents from your phone’s storage and download them again at any time from your Telegram cloud. Users have been able to set a maximum cache size or have unused items removed automatically after a certain amount of time.

  • You can create separate auto-remove settings for Private Chats, Groups, and Channels β€” with exceptions.
  • New pie charts help you visualise what’s eating up space, while the Media, Files, and Music tabs allow you to delete the biggest items quickly.
  • The app’s calculation of your cache size is now finished much faster on iOS thanks to this upgrade.
New Drawing and Text Tools

This update overhauled Telegram’s media editor. Drawing tools alter width depending on speed and smooth lines automatically. The new blur tool to redact sensitive data (or photobombers) and five high-precision colour tools, including Eyedropper.

  • You can now customize text size, font, and background in images and videos. Everyone can add animated emojis to visual text.
  • Tap “+” to add rectangles, circles, arrows, stars, and conversation bubbles. You can also grasp the surface to paint or erase.
Profile Pictures for Your Contacts

You can select a photo for your contacts while editing them; only you will be able to see it on their profile.

Suggest Profile Photos

Furthermore, if your contact has a decent profile photo, you could offer it to them. To add it to their profile, they only need two taps.

Public Profile Pictures

Users can set a public picture for everyone else if you only allow certain users to see your profile photos. This update also allows you to achieve complete profile picture privacy by setting visibility to ‘Nobody’ and adding specific users or groups as exceptions.

Hiding Group Members

Tools like aggressive anti-spam help chat admins clean up huge groups, but other groups may desire to safeguard members from unwelcome personal messages.

Admins of groups with 100+ members can now conceal the roster. Only the group’s administrators will know if people do not send messages to the group.

New Progress Animations on Android

When leaping to a faraway reply in a busy chat or to another page in the app, there are now smooth new animations.

New Animated Emoji

As a gift, Telegram artists are giving Premium users 10 new packs of custom animated emoji.

More Interactive Emoji

This update also brings the following new interactive emojis: send a single πŸŽ…πŸŽ„β˜ƒοΈπŸ’…πŸ—ΏπŸ†’πŸ€ͺ in any 1-on-1 chat and then tap on it. All of these emoji can now be used as reactions. The Moai face will be especially helpful for saying goodbye to 2022.

Topics for Groups of Any Size

Topics are now available in all groups of any size, providing everyone with a new way to organize discussion.
