Instagram India introduces ‘1 Minute Music’ tracks for Reels

Instagram today introduced a new musical property, “1 Minute Music,” which is a collection of music songs and films accessible exclusively on its network for usage on Reels or Stories.

You’ll find music from over 200 Indian artists in this collection, including Dhvani Bhanushali, Neeti Mohan, Shaan, Himanshi Khurana, Aniruth, and GV Prakaash Kumar. It will make your Instagram content more engaging as well as encourage more artists to start releasing one-minute music on Instagram too.

“Ever since its inception, artists have used it to release their soundtracks as well as enjoy sharing them with others, spurring many changes on the platform. With the introduction of the ‘1 Minute Music’ property to enhance this further and help motivate everyone else to leverage their skills and more,” said the company.

The property will feature music from Indian musicians, making it appealing to all Instagram users in India. This includes Hindi artists such as Dhvani Bhanushali, Neeti Mohan, and Shaan, Punjabi artists such as Jassie Gill, Himashi Khurana, and Gurnaam Bhullar, and Tamil artists such as Aniruth, Sivaangi, and GV Prakaash Kumar.

The soundtrack will be complemented by music videos that will be exclusively available on Instagram. In the past 10 days, Himanshi Khurana, Kaur B, and Gurnazar Chattha have all released albums.

Over the past year, Instagram has added music to feed posts, saving sounds, voiceover, mixed audio, Superbeat, 2D and 3D lyrics, and audio browser. This week, Instagram got a new logo, font, etc. as well to enhance its platform.

Speaking on the announcement, Paras Sharma, Director, Content & Community Partnerships, Facebook India (Meta), says,

Music is a catalyst for trends on Instagram today. In fact, Reels is becoming the platform for people to discover music and artists too. With ‘1 Minute Music’, we’re now giving people access to an exclusive set of tracks they could use to make their reels more entertaining. We’re also hoping this platform serves as a paradigm for established and emerging artists to share their own music, and create their own videos, all on Reels.

Music distribution and artist services company, Believe, has worked with Instagram for this association – Vivek Raina, Managing Director – India, Believe, says,

Reels is a core part of our plans, as we look to engage audiences for our artists, and immerse their songs in pop culture. I’m glad Instagram’s seeing this artist’s behavior and innovating with #1MinMusic – which is a very relevant, new-age genre of music today. We hope this provides the structure for artists, emerging and established, to understand the way they need to think about short-form video. We’re glad to have worked with Instagram on this.
