LG Smart TVs will now support Flimmaker mode for Prime Video

LG is rolling out a new software update for their 2020 and 2021 4K and 8K UHD Smart TVs that will enable Filmmaker Mode for Prime Video content. The feature will turn on automatically when watching movies and series in Prime Video, allowing users to experience content just as the creator intended.

Filmmaker Mode was developed by a consortium of companies called the UHD Alliance. The feature automatically turns off off any picture processing settings in TVs that may make the content look a little too smooth and overly processed. It also aims to maintain the content’s original aspect ratio, colors and frame rate. LG Smart TVs already feature support for Filmmaker Mode in streaming apps such as Netflix.

With the new update, content from Amazon Prime Video contain a signal that will automatically trigger Filmmaker Mode in LG Smart TVs. This includes content such as ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’, ‘The Boys’, ‘The Tomorrow War’ and the upcoming series ‘The Wheel of Time’.

The update is rolling out now to LG 4K and 8K UHD LG TV models running webOS 5.0 and webOS 6.0 around the world.
