Apple iPhone 12 series will not feature a 120Hz display: Rumour

We are close to Apple’s next hardware event ‘Time Flies‘ that will be held today, the September 15th, and we have some new fresh, rather disappointing, rumours for the iPhone 12 series that are expected to be unveiled in a separate event next month. According to Apple analyst, Ming Chi-Kuo, the entire iPhone 12 series line up will not feature a 120Hz display, a feature which is common in most flagships today.

The reason cited by Ming Chi-Kuo for Apple’s decision to not feature a 120Hz display is due to concerns over battery life. All the iPhone models are expected to support 5G (both mmWave and sub-6Ghz) technology and the battery life will already be affected by it. It looks Apple is not ready to sacrifice battery life further for a high refresh rate screen and instead will use a lower-power LTPO display technology.

The iPhone 12 series will also continue to feature FaceID with its classic notched display design. The smaller 5.4-inch iPhone 12 is expected to have  a smaller notch design, allowing it display more information in the top-left and top-right corners, while the other models will continue to have the same sized notch as the iPhone 11 series.

Regarding the Time Flies event, Apple is expected to focus on the Apple Watch and iPad Air. The new Apple Watch is expected to feature a similar design to the Apple Watch Series 5, with the addition of a blood oxygen sensor. The iPad Air is expected to come with an all-screen design by integrating TouchID into the side power button.
