After revolutionizing the smartphone market, OnePlus to bet big on 4K LED Smart TV

Among few of the smartphone makers out to grab market share in India, OnePlus has been the front-runner with its amazing offerings each time.  The company established itself over the last four years with the company’s vision of selling flagship smartphones at unbelievable pricing striking all the right chords. Another positive point worth mentioning here is the company listens to its customers, ultimately working on what people really want from their phones.

Since 2014, the user base of OnePlus has seen a steep incline. In addition to this, the company fueled this fandom through various interactions with the community through their forums. With this as an advantage, OnePlus opted for the unconventional way where they relied on the feedback of its large fan base in developing products.

As per the company claims, a great product would sell itself and doesn’t need too much marketing. This relentless pursuit of excellence and perfection has made the latest OnePlus 6 this year’s must-have phone for tech lads and millennials. After tasting success with seven flagship smartphones since the OnePlus One and the OxygenOS operating system embraced by millions of users around the world, the company is planning to add a Smart TV in its portfolio.

“We want to bring the home environment to the next level of intelligent connectivity. To do this, we are building a new product of OnePlus’ premium flagship design, image quality, and audio experience to more seamlessly connect the home,” said OnePlus.

In a bid to improve human experience through simplicity, efficiency and intelligent functionality OnePlus is taking its first step in developing its all-new Smart TV.

OnePlus Founder and CEO, Pete Lau, will lead the new division alongside the existing smartphone division, bringing with him more than 20 years of success in the smartphone and Blu-ray player industries.

“I dream about a time when technology is truly seamless, an effortless part of your life without being the focus. As other consumer electronics have evolved and improved our lives, televisions have remained conventional and cumbersome,” said Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO. “We bring inherent advantages to the industry, and with this new division, we’re excited to explore the total connected user experience that can enhance everyday life.”

In an interview, he also added the Smart TV will be a hub for the smart home, which hints at connecting more with TV like a smart speaker or display, which answers and controls other devices. Furthermore, the TV may be using OS from a big mainstream provider and roll out update regularly.

“For most of us, there are four major environments we experience each day: the home, the workplace, the commute, and being on-the-move. The home — perhaps the most important environment experience — is just starting to enjoy the benefits of intelligent connectivity. Something that seems as simple as displaying the photos from your mobile phone to a television is still difficult to achieve. With the development of AI technology, our imagination is endless — and we are looking forward to the future.” said Lau.
