Qualcomm to integrate WPA3 security features across mobile and networking products


Qualcomm today announced that it is integrating WPA3 support across mobile and networking infrastructure products. WPA3 was introduced back in January and is the industry’s newest Wi-Fi security and provides robust protection for user passwords and stronger privacy in both public and private Wi-Fi networks. It is also including the recently launched 2×2 802.11ax-ready solution for client devices, the WCN3998, and IPQ807x AP platform.

It is aggresively closing known security holes and implementing WPA3 across its portfolio of mobile and networking products. It also provides secure wireless access, even when user’s Wi-Fi passwords fall short of common complexity recommendations. Whats more interesting is that users will also be able to take leverage of data privacy protections when using devices in public or open hotspots provided by Opportunistic Wireless Encryption (OWE),

It also ensures strong security protections for networking technology used in government, medical and financial networks. Qualcomm says that it is planning on incorporating the WPA3 security features into chipsets later this year for mobile devices beginning with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform and on all Wi-Fi networking infrastructure products.
