Snapchat said to be testing ‘Connected Apps’ to let users connect to third-party apps

Snapchat Connected Apps

Facebook is caught with the data-sharing scandal which made users uninstall the apps that were previously connected to Facebook, Snapchat is surprisingly is going the same route. According to the latest beta update, Snapchat might be testing ‘Connected Apps’ to let users connect to third-party apps.

Snapchat is implementing the data-sharing API that lets users connect with third-party apps. There is a new  ‘Connected Apps’ section in the settings menu. However, it doesn’t show anything except the text that reads, “These apps are connected to your Snapchat account. Choose an app to control what it has access to.” It’s obvious that this section will soon show the list of third-party apps that are connected.

Currently, Snapchat only allows Bitmoji; which Snapchat bought in 2016. Users can simply sign-up for Bitmoji via Snapchat or simply connect their accounts. Apart from Bitmoji, Shazam is another app that has integration with Snapchat. This move is to help Snapchat become its own app ecosystem like Facebook, Gmail, Twitter. With Facebook facing criticism over user data violations, the move from Snapchat is interesting for sure.
