Amazfit BIP Unboxing and First Impressions


You have probably heard of Huami Corporation, if not, it is the company behind Mi Band series which are known for providing smart activity tracking at affordable prices, in which Xiaomi has invested in. Apart from Mi Bands, Huami has its own range of wearables called Amazfit. Recently, Huami launched its budget smartwatch Amazfit BIP globally at US$ 99 (Rs. 6455 approx.). We got to unbox the Amazfit BIP, check out the unboxing and first impressions of Amazfit BIP.

The Amazfit BIP comes with an always-on reflective 1.28-inch ( 176 x 176 pixels) color LED touch display covered under 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with anti-fingerprint coating. The 20mm standard watchband is made of soft material and can be changed if required. The Amazfit BIP weighs only 31 grams and has water and dust resistance IP68 rating. It comes in 4 vibrant color options – White Cloud, Onyx Black, Cinnabar Red and Kokoda Green.

There is a hardware button on the right side of the watch, which can be pressed to turn on the display and unlock the smartwatch. The smartwatch can show the notifications for calls and apps, it also shows steps, heart rate, distance, calories and number of activity sessions. The watch uses Bluetooth version 4.0 for connecting to a smartphone and can be paired with any smartphone running Android 4.4 and iOS 8 or above.

The smartwatch is equipped with PPG heart rate sensor which is present at the back, this sensor glows green while measuring heart rate similar to Mi Band 2. Apart from heart rate sensor, Huami has also packed GPS sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor (commonly known as Compass), Air Pressure sensor (also known as Barometer) and 3-axis accelerometer for activity, sports and sleep tracking.

Amazfit BIP has a 190mAh Li-Polymer Battery which can last up to 30 days with regular use and up to 45 days with minimal notifications as per the company. The battery can be charged using the proprietary cable which is included in the retail box, any power adapter rated 5V/500ma and above can be used to charge the smartwatch, or simply proprietary can also be plugged into laptops.

This smartwatch has not been launched in India yet, but you can get it from AliExpress or Banggood for around Rs. 4500. We will bring the complete review of the smartwatch soon.
