Google has updated image search on the Google App for Android and mobile search by adding badges. The aim is to make it easier for users to categorize results for selected images.
You will see badges in the bottom left corners of image results. For example, if you are looking for cupcake photos in Image Search, you will notice badges for both video and recipe results. A badge will either have text or a play button indicating the result is a video. You will also see badges for products and GIFs.
Google said in a blog post,
Now on the Google app for Android and mobile web, we’re adding relevant badges to images indicating what else you can discover with a single tap. These badges will help you uncover images where next steps or more in-depth information is available—everything from bags to buy, to recipes to try.
