WhatsApp for iPhone adds support for all files, pinned chats and more

WhatsApp for iPhone 2.17.40

WhatsApp for iPhone has received a new update that adds a couple of features. The update which bumps the app to version 2.17.40 brings the ability to pin chats on top, share any type of files and other features.

First up, iPhone users can now pin upto three important chats at the top of the chat screen. Once pinned, a conversation stays on top of the list even if you are getting messages from other users. In order to pin a chat, just tap and hold a chat and then tap the pin icon that is present next to the delete, mute and archive option. Tapping the pin icon will move your chat right at the top. To unpin a chat, long press on the chat and select the unpin option. This feature was already available for WhatsApp for Android since May.

After Android, now iPhone users will also be able to share any types of files on WhatsApp. Finally, the update also tweaks the way you view received photos. You will now see bundled photos with a thumbnail gallery instead of seeing single photos in a column. You can tap the photos to see full size versions of the photos. In addition you can now tap and hold on the group of photos to quickly forward or delete all of them.
