ZTE has arrived in India and with a bang, thanks to the Blade A2 Plus smartphone that they’ve introduced. ZTE claim to have designed it keeping the needs of the Indian consumer in mind and is a different iteration of the international Blade A2 model.

The A2 Plus is for multimedia enthusiasts due to the large 5.5″ Full HD 1080p display. The IPS panel offers good brightness and nice contrast levels. Despite the slightly reflective glass, the sunlight legibility seems good. The glass also tapers a bit towards the edges to give a 2.5D effect that feels good when swiping.

The smartphone feels solidly built and is sturdy. It does carry a bit of weight due to the large 5000mAh battery underneath the hood which should keep it ticking easily for over a day even with heavy use. The smartphone also supports charging of other devices using USB OTG. We shall talk more about this in detail during our review of the smartphone.

The unibody metal design is only disrupted at the back by the plastic cutouts at the top and bottom to facilitate for better reception for the antennas. The cutouts have a criss cross pattern that adds a touch of sophistication to the otherwise simple design.

Users get a 13 Megapixel primary shooter that is capable of capturing RAW DNG files straight out of the stock camera app and a secondary 8 Megapixel camera up front. There is also 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded using the Hybrid Dual SIM slot that takes 2 nanoSIM cards or a nanoSIM and a microSD card. It also has 4G VoLTE support.

It is powered by a Mediatek MT6750 octa-core chipset and has 4GB of RAM as well. During our short time of use, the phone did perform quite snappily but we will dive into deeper testing during our review phase in the near future.

The fingerprint sensor at the back which ZTE calls “Super Key” is also clickable and can do more than just unlocking your phone. It can be used to take screenshots, launch specific apps, capture and share photos etc. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

The ZTE Blade A2 Plus comes in Gold and Silver colors, is competitively priced at Rs. 11,999 and will be available exclusively from Flipkart starting from February 6th.

That’s it for our first impressions guys, we shall be doing our complete review of the smartphone soon so please do stay tuned for that.
