BHIM app v 1.2 gets support for seven regional languages, spam report and more

BHIM app for UPI-based payments which crossed 1.1 crore downloads in 20 days has received a major update with new features. The update that bumps the app to version 2.1 gets support for seven Indian languages and improved security.

The BHIM app now supports  Odia, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Gujarati apart from English and Hindi. The app has also received a new feature dubbed as‘Pay to Aadhaar Number’ that lets users add a payment option to the app, wherein customer can transfer money to the Aadhaar number linked with beneficiaries’ bank account. Next up, the app gets SPAM Report feature that will help users block unknown persons requesting for money. Finally, the update improves Customer Redressal Mechanism with drop down menu.

Developed by National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), the BHIM app supports Hindi and English and is only available on Android. It is supported by host of banks, including State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Punjab National Bank, among others.
