You can now search and request Uber rides directly from Google Maps

Google and Uber integration is going even deeper with the latest update. You can now now request a ride, see your driver en route, contact your driver, and follow your trip status directly from Google Maps. Prior to this update you could compare wait times and the pricing of available Uber options, including POOL, uberX, and uberXL, in Google Maps.

The latest update saves you from switching back and forth between Uber and Maps. Now when you open ride services mode, instead of a long list of ride service providers and ride options, you will see the map along with a carousel of ride service providers in your area. Just tap on your preferred provider to see a complete list of ride options and special offers or promotions. Even if you don’t have the Uber app installed, you will be able to access the ride sharing service by logging in or creating an account from within Google Maps.

Google says the new update is “starting to roll out” globally on Android and iOS. Google Maps already has support for Ola in India.
