Apple is working on bringing important changes to the App Store and has assembled a team of 100 engineers for the same, according to a new report from Bloomberg.
The company is considering plans that would allow developers to pay for sponsored search results in the App Store. Apple’s vice president, Todd Teresi is leading this team of 100 which consists of engineers from Apple’s iAd advertising division. As per the report, Apple is looking to a model similar to Google- that would allow developers to pay for their apps to appear in specific search results.
In addition, the company is also working on adding better search and browsing tools to App Store. The Apple App Store has over one million apps and it is not easy to find a specific app and hence the search improvements would be a welcome move for many users. Moreover, this could also help Apple to start a potential revenue stream. The report did not mention a time-frame for the changes that are said to be coming to the Apple App Store.
