In a bid to expand it’s high-speed internet footprint, Vodafone India is all set to acquire broadband service provider YOU Broadband. The acquisition price is set at around Rs 400 Crore.

Vodafone has signed a deal to acquire YOU Broadband and has received approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board, according to sources familiar with ET. The news comes months after it was reported in January that both the companies are in talks for an acquisition deal. In December last year, it was reported that Vodafone is looking forward to buy 4G LTE spectrum from Mumbai based ISP provide Tikona Digital Networks.

TRG Capital-owned You Broadband has around 3,000 kilometers of optic fibre and 6,000 kilometers of last mile cables to homes across 12 cities including Mumbai. Telecom players are increasing 4G offerings across India and the acquisition, could further help Vodafone to bolster and expand its 4G LTE coverage. At present, Airtel has been aggressively expanding 4G service pan-India while Reliance Jio is all set to roll out commercially by next month.
