Lenovo announces organizational changes, Motorola Head Rick Osterloh to exit


Lenovo has announced some important restructures and leadership changes at the company. The company is realigning PC Group to PC & Smart Device Business Group which will now comprise of PCs, detatchables, tablets, phablets, gaming and smart home products across Windows, Chrome and Android based products.

Lenovo says the change will help it grow it’s share in the consolidating PC market and focus on the rapidly emerging smart device market. The new PC & Smart Device Business Group will be led by Gianfranco Lanci, Lenovo Group President and COO who continues to report to Lenovo’s Chairman and CEO. In case of Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group (MBG), Xudong Chen and Aymar de Lencquesaing have been appointed as presidents of MBG. Both of them will report to Yuanqing Yang. The mobile markets in China and the rest of the world are very different, so Chen will focus on the China mobile business while de Lencquesaing, will use his global experience in complex, competitive tech industries to drive rapid growth in emerging markets.

Motorola Head, Rick Osterloh has decided to leave Motorola Mobility and Aymar de Lencquesaing will now become Chairman and President of Motorola. Lenovo also announced some changes to its enterprise business and Ecosystem and Cloud Services (ECS) division. All the aforementioned changes will be effective April 1, said Lenovo.
