Amazon India axes return policy for mobile phones

Amazon India has made some rather disappointing changes to its return policy for mobile phones. Now, mobile phones that are fulfilled from Amazon India on or after 7th February 2016, will no longer be eligible for refunds.

The company has notified its buyers that they will no longer be able to return the mobile phones purchased on Amazon unless the item is damaged, missing, or defective, as per their new returns policy. The replacement is available for a duration of 10-days from delivery of the mobile phone. Amazon has specifically tweaked the policy for mobile phones as products from other categories can be still returned if they no longer need it. The move comes from Amazon  as a large number of people buy latest smartphones and return them after using for a week, thereby abusing the return policy.

Amazon’s new return policy reads,

All Mobile phones that are fulfilled by Amazon, purchased on or after 7th February 2016, will have a replacement only policy. Mobile phone items that are fulfilled by Amazon will no longer be eligible for refunds. In case you have received a defective or a damaged mobile phone, you will be eligible for a free replacement.
